Tail wagging tunes for your dog

Stop everything you’re doing. Scientists have finally answered the age old question: what genre of music do dogs like listening to?

According to research published by the University of Glasgow and SPCA, our sweet pups prefer reggae and soft rock over any other music genre.

Researchers noted a decrease in heart rate and subsequent stress indicators (such as barking and howling) when listening to the likes of Bob Marley or Toots and The Maytals.

The SPCA’s head of research, Gilly Mendes Ferreira, speculates this is because “those genres have a rhythm that is similar to the dogs’ own heart rate. When a puppy is feeling stressed it will snuggle into its mother and use her heartbeat as relaxation, so this music mimics that.” Probably the cutest scientific explanation we’ve ever heard.

So without further ado, we’ve compiled a pup-playlist to please both you and your dog. Share it with your pack and relax. Woof to that!
